I Really Just....
I really just don't understand how you cheat on somebody you love.
Romantic love is something that many people aren't willing to share. Your fingers that your girlfriend holds aren't french fries you share at a restaurant. Your lips aren't hot Cheetos that you give to your friends at lunch. Your vagina isn't peach rings that you hand out to your friends at camp. Your weenie man isn't the phone charger you lone to a friend when their phone has died. Because when you commit, present, and give these things to someone exclusively, when you love someone and only them these pieces of you are only for them. Love's a promise. A promise of loyalty, a promise of companionship, a promise that forgotten is shattered and broken. When you love someone, all the other stars don't shine as bright as the one you're looking at. Nobody excites you like them, nobody else's touch sends currents of electricity through your body. Nobody else's tears sends you to pieces, you are consumed entirely by that person. Your heart belongs to them. So if you use the word 'Love' lightly and without understanding it is surely a promise more easily broken. If you love somebody the last thing you would want is to see them hurt. To see them question their worth, or if they're good enough. To see uncertainty placed in their heart placed by you. To see their trust broken by your actions and to see a flicker of mistrust and skepticism in their eye with your every word. Because love is supposed to be kind, it shouldn't hurt in a despairing way. So to cheat on someone and claim to love them is a paradox if one ever existed. Love bests temptation because it is fulfilling. Love's long lasting, love is not fleeting, it's infinite. Love isn't built on sex, it's not built on any physical aspect . It's a mingling and complex entanglement of souls. It's deep, it knows no bounds, is always willing to sacrifice. Love will stand in the face of death and say, " Go to hell."
Jesus loved God and his people so he died for us.
Romeo loved Juliette, and so lost without her he followed her in death.
Haemon loved Antigone so that he abandoned his father and his life for her.
Despite loving Stella, Will would rather leave than put her in pain from his death.
Even though their love would be their demise Emma and Julian loved each other recklessly
Because he promised to save her in love, Eunseom never stopped fighting death to get back to Tanya.
Because Ruby loved Liam and wanted him to be free, she erased herself from his mind to keep him safe.
So if throwing yourself in front of death, sacrificing your own happiness for someone else, living everyday for another person, and only wanting to see someone safe, happy, and healthy is love how the hell is hurting someone for a fleeting moment of pleasure love.
Cheating is forgivable, but it is not forgettable. You can't erase the pain you put in someone's heart with one sorry, or ease the anxiety by just saying "I love you.". Take responsibility, accept that you made the mistake. And never take Love lightly, whether it's yours or someone else's.
